An acknowledgment is one of the most common notarial acts in California. It basically certifies that the person who was supposed to sign the document, is the person who signed the document.
An acknowledgment notary certificate does NOT require that the document be signed in front of the notary. In fact, the document could have been signed years ago! If the document was not signed in the notary's presence, the signer must ACKNOWLEDGE to the notary that they were the person who signed the document, that the signature that appears on the document is theirs.
Acknowledgments are frequently used for real estate forms, powers of attorney, and other legal documents.
At Notary Ally, we make the process convenient and professional—traveling to your home, office, or another agreed-upon location. We’ll check your valid photo ID, confirm your understanding, and notarize your document with care and discretion.
Need help? We’re happy to walk you through the steps.
📎 Valid, current photo ID is required. Two credible witnesses may be used if no ID is available.
